Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site recognise your browser on the next request. We also use your browser's local storage for the same kind of purpose.

Cookies are either strictly necessary for the site to work, or they are not. Only the necessary ones are set without asking you first.

Session cookie. Keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it you would be signed out on every click, and you could not bid. It is set when you sign in and cleared when you sign out.

Security cookie. Protects forms against cross-site request forgery, so a page on another site cannot submit a bid or an enquiry as you.

These cookies do not need consent because the service cannot be provided without them. Blocking them will stop sign-in and bidding from working.

Analytics. We would use these to understand which listings and pages are used, in aggregate. They are only set if you accept them.

Marketing. Used to measure the performance of advertising for the platform. Only set if you accept them.

If you decline optional cookies, nothing about your ability to search, enquire or bid changes.

You can accept or reject optional cookies from the cookie banner, and change your mind at any time.

You can also control cookies in your browser settings, including deleting cookies already set and blocking them in future. Blocking the strictly necessary session cookie will prevent you from signing in.

Clearing cookies signs you out. Signing out also invalidates the session on our servers, so a copy of the cookie taken beforehand will not work.

Some pages embed content from other providers — for example a map on a property page. Those providers may set their own cookies when their content loads. We list them in the cookie banner before they are loaded, and where possible we load them only after you interact.
